About Us
The non-toxic Giant Rubber Ducky looms large in front of the Connecticut State Capitol in March, symbolizing the feasibility of safe toys made safely.
The Coalition for a Safe and Healthy Connecticut is comprised of
- citizens
- health professionals
- workers
- environmental justice groups
- educators, and others
seeking preventive action on toxic hazards. Unfortunately, current environment and health policies do not protect us.
Our individual rights and our quality of life are threatened by harmful pollution and products Coalition partners are committed to the common goals of increasing awareness regarding toxins found in cleaning chemicals and establishing new government policies to prevent harm to our health from these and other toxic hazards.
Rather than reacting to and fighting against one known toxin at a time, a movement is now calling for improved testing and safer alternatives wherever feasible. The core of public health philosophy teaches us the value of prevention and that we should prevent illness through eliminating known toxins, rather than try to estimate how much illness is "acceptable".
